I remember being at a house party back in my raving days where we got hold of an old console, hooked up a steering wheel and pedals, and then erm ‘customised, and old plastic chair and jerry rigged the whole thing together into an experimental prototype version of this product, wow it was great, (or was that our imaginations combined with the various influences we had consumed!)
Non the less it makes for a much improved experience with the games, especially with these latest Xbox 360 steering wheel chairs that are all hooked up with rumble feedback and the like. Kids today (and big kids!) have no idea how lucky they are!
Apparently one of the market leading models with its totally renewed design and double stitched vinyl seats, are used by top professional drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and Robbie Kerr to improve their actual driving skills and section knowledge (or is it just to have a great time?)
Some models of chair like the Playseat can be used with any console and any steering wheel combination but for the Microsoft Xbox 360 Steering Wheel you need the Playseat Xbox 360 Assembly Plate available separately. The Microsoft Wheels do not generally mount very well to flat surfaces, so you really need to get an adapter or mounting that is specifically designed for your model of chair and the Xbox 360 steering wheel. Also beware if you think you have just found a really good deal on ebay or other site selling this stuff, because despite what is in the picture you might just be buying the mount. Remember if something looks too good to be true, then it generally is!
This particular model I’m looking at is black and blue Alcantara leather but do you know it’s also available in white leather and for other models of Xbox 360 steering wheel chair you can even buy skins (read: seat covers!)
